Here are a few notes and links for you as we transition to our new format for teaching and learning during school closures in Carlsbad Unified.
Remote Online Learning
Today was the first official day of Remote Online Learning. We hope your students were able to successfully connect with their teachers and access their assignments. This is a big transition, and we expect there to be bumps in the road along the way. Please encourage your students to check for assignments and activities daily, and to keep an open mind about this new experience.
Technology Needs for Remote Online Learning
As previously noted, students do not need a district-issued chromebook to receive lessons from their teacher. Any internet connected computer, tablet or cell phone will work. For those who need an internet-connected device, we’re currently distributing additional chromebooks and replacing damaged chromebooks. In order to request a device, or to request a replacement for a broken device, please fill out this form.
Technology Support
We have assembled a team to provide our families with technical support. Many problems can be solved by reaching out to your teacher; however, advanced technical support and device issues can be addressed by submitting our Tech Help Form. By filling out the form, our Parent Support Team can assist you with district devices and district account issues.
Please contact your internet service provider for issues connecting to your home internet.
Extended School Closures
A few takeaways from yesterday’s message about extended school closures:
- All schools in San Diego County are closed indefinitely.
- We hope to reopen our schools if we receive notification from public health officials that it is safe to do so. We’ll update families and staff just as soon as we have more information.
- Until we reopen, we’ll continue instruction through Remote Online Learning.
