• Carlsbad Educational Foundation receives capital grant from Nordson Corporation

The Carlsbad Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, announces it has received an $87,790 grant from Nordson Corporation. These funds will support the creation of a “classroom of the future” for Aviara Oaks Middle School and Magnolia Elementary School of the Carlsbad Unified School District. The funding represents the largest grant the Carlsbad Educational Foundation has received in its 33-year history.

Magnolia Elementary School has identified adjacent classrooms to convert into a collaborative learning lab. The new space will be outfitted with mobile, flexible furniture, extensive whiteboard space, plug-and-play technology, and manipulative learning tools. The grant also allows Aviara Oaks Middle School to complete the second phase of its plan to renovate an outdated library space in a similar way.

Once completed, students will have access to state-of-the-art interactive workstations to collaborate and use the newest technology. Teachers can use the lab for expanded learning opportunities with students or for staff professional development. Outside presenters will be able to interact with students in more impactful ways.

Michelle Ginn, Carlsbad Educational Foundation CEO says “The Carlsbad Educational Foundation is proud to partner with Nordson Corporation and the Carlsbad Unified School District to improve the classroom experience for all our students. As technology in schools improves, we will continue to explore innovative programs that prepare children to thrive in an ever-changing world.”

Nordson Corporation Foundation has funded hands-on STEM programs provided by the Carlsbad Educational Foundation since 2010. In those seven years, Nordson has supported our Middle School Science Lab SuperCharge Project and robotics programs. The Carlsbad Educational Foundation is extremely grateful for continued support from Nordson Corporation.

The Carlsbad Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3), proudly funding science, music and innovation programs in the Carlsbad Unified School District.
