BV Special Needs Preschool Trikes
Dear Community of Carlsbad and potential donors,
My name is Stacie Scott and I am an Early Childhood Education Specialist for the Carlsbad Unified School District. Many people in the community are not aware that we have a Preschool Program housed at Buena Vista Elementary School that serves all of Carlsbad’s preschool students with special needs. We have students in our program who come from all of the district’s attendance areas. Additionally, we have students who are in our classrooms that are from the community who are typically developing and have no special needs. We call this an inclusive preschool model. All of the children benefit from our program and benefit from being taught together. It is a wonderful place for children to play and learn!
Unfortunately, the school district does not have any current funds to help us purchase sturdy age appropriate bicycles for our students. The children are using bicycles that teachers and other staff members have found at garage sales or on Craig’s list. One of our teachers found a bike on Craig’s list that is perfect for all of our students, a 12” Schwinn Roadster Tricycle. It is the bike that everyone wants to ride and that every child is successful and safe riding. We have had to create a waiting line so that the children take turns. While turn taking is a great learning experience, we would love to have at least 5 more of these wonderfully age appropriate and popular bicycles.
If you are able, please consider donating one or more to our preschool program! Your generous gift would be used by the wonderful preschool students at our school who are from all of Carlsbad.
Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely, Stacie Scott, on behalf of all of the staff and students at Buena Vista Preschool
